Energy
is the key development of any country in the world, the securing the
availability of
energy will push the economy of the country. Many sectors such as agriculture, industries, education, and other production activities depend energy. Most of the world’s countries use fossil fuels such as oil products, nuclear, coal as the sources of energy which is expensive and produces carbon and sulphur gases which harmful to the environment. Since energy is a vital input on economic growth and due to over-exploitation causes the fossil fuel to deplete as the results increase environment protection costs. It is estimated that in 2011 about 13.Gt (Gigatonnes) of CO2 emissions produced from energy power sectors. Many countries try to use renewable energy resources Renewable Energy Sources (RES) to reduce this risk as well as their availability and cost effectiveness.

Recently in Tanzania, according the policy and regulatory
overviews it is reported that demand for energy fuels and lights has been
increased due to increase in the populations which is about 47M by the 2013 census.
Even if population and energy demands increases, but still the major resource
of heat, electricity in industries, domestic and transports are depended on the
forest products, fossil fuels and Hydropower. In 2012 it estimated that the
electricity production is about 4.302GWh while consumptions and installed
capacity are 3.403GWh and 1,051 MW respectively. The major energy sources in
Tanzania being renewable energy.
The
frequency of droughts, flood hazards, silt problems and old infrastructure as
well as lacking of frequent replacements in the hydropower systems causes the
Tanzania government to lose about US$6. 3 million a year in productivity this
leads to losing about US$1.5 Million as corporate taxation. Electricity
rationing and instability of power supplies makes the country suffer in poor
economic and service providing as the results lowering development. Tanzania is the tropical country having a larger amount of
energy potential (renewable resources, natural gases). It is estimated that if
75% of only wind and solar energy is tapped, it will be enough to fulfil the energy
energy of the country. Due to financial problems and lack of technological know-how
the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) could not be tapped. For this reason the
life of majority in the country uses forest products as their source of energy,
results which in the deforestation and climate change. Application of fossil
fuels in the industries and transports causes the air pollutions. Decreasing of
forest causes the change of weather as well as destroying of other living
organism.
Basically, lack of reliable energy
sources lead to various problems such as ineffective economic performance, use
of nonrenewable sources of energy like fossil fuel and others that always
result into health impact together with environmental pollution other problems hence alternative sources of energy must be introduced in
order to solve those problems.
